  1. Banning a book shuts a room in the mind of a kid — and everyone else. I don’t understand our world’s current desire to limit knowledge, exposure, curiosity, learning. Just because we turn our back on something doesn’t mean it isn’t there and isn’t true.

  2. NPR had a program talking about this issue in Texas. I tried to buy the book bag, but they were out. Thanks for posting this, Becky.

    1. Good that NPR is working to inform us, Linda! Even if we all just bought or read one of these, it helps to show our solidarity! I recently read “The Hate U Give” for the library book club. It’s a good story, told in a very fair manner, and could certainly help people understand each other!

  3. Thank you for sharing this…it seems more and more efforts to erase our past are going on plus dictating what we can and cannot read too much censorship is creeping at a fast rate into society…so wrong…

  4. I can’t believe this is happening.
I checked out the link. Then, as a Canadian, looked to see if books are being banned here. It’s not of the magnitude of the USA, but certain publications are seized/banned at the border.
This is just nuts, when you can buy an ebook on line.
Anyway, we have a freedom to read organization here. So, it seems many in the world are fighting for all kinds of freedoms.
Iran is a big one right now.

  5. I will visit there. I often wonder when people are afraid to have certain information around, exactly what they are afraid of and what makes them think they have to right to extend their beliefs onto others? We have seen throughout history that it doesn’t work.

  6. I’m not a fan of book bans in any shape or form. If you don’t like what a book has to offer, don’t read it but don’t tell me I can’t read it. This has been going on for generations over and over. Some mumskull thinks they have the right to tell us what we can read. Even governments run it up the flag pole. We know where it goes. Will that or wars or all the rest of pure stupid ever end? Doubtful.
