Something for Everyone: Plant-Based Holiday Recipes

If you have friends or family over during the holidays, chances are that someone in your group prefers to follow a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. You’ll want to be sure that there are choices to please everyone. Check out Meatless Monday for some great recipe options! I can personally vouch for the “No-Meat Meatloaf” as being very tasty, and I’m eager to try a few more of these offerings, as well. Of course, fresh fruits/veggies and regular or non-dairy cheeses are always easy additions to the table. Enjoy!

  1. These recipes look GREAT, Becky! Thank you for the link! We’ll be having our usual vegetarian Thanksgiving, though at a local vegetarian restaurant rather than at home. But I can see making some of the recipes you linked to any time. 🙂

  2. Lentil loaf is one of my regular recipes with homemade tomato sauce and spicy whole grain pilau rice recipe thanks to Delia Smith, I should try the meatless loaf. I am not vegetarian, but we have never had meat every day and I always intend to expand my repertoire. Though we don’t have Thanksgiving I do enjoy all the turkey jokes on Facebook!

  3. For such a special date, the best thing is to be prepared to satisfy all the guests in their culinary tastes and nothing better than the recipes that you are sharing. An alternative to have a good time. In the end, everyone is happy. Greetings Becky.

  4. I appreciate the suggestions, Becky. I suspect (I’m guessing) that there are more vegetarian and vegan eaters than ever before. We need to consider that when having friends over.

  5. That coconut pumpkin pie looks amazing! I often serve vegan mashed potatoes because they’re easier on the stomach sometimes after all of that turkey and stuffing. I just boil the potatoes in a good, flavorful vegetable stock and mash the potatoes with some of the stock until they are smooth–adding salt and pepper to taste. They turn out really well. Cheers!

  6. It’s a good idea to be prepared for veggie guests – and a good idea to have some healthy options on the table, even if everyone present does eat meat.

    That mushroom gravy sounds nice. I’ll definitely be trying that.

  7. I tried the butternut squash and pear crostini that one of your links led me to. I had it for lunch today, and it was great with a small square of white cheddar cheese on top. Yummo!

  8. OH! For those who love their dressing/stuffing – Make a bread stuffing with onions, garlic, celery and spices, whatever you like in your stuffing. Add extra oil, bake in tin foil! (350 degrees F)
    It’s delicious with gravy.
    For a veggie gravy saute onions and garlic (mushrooms if you like) until quite brown. Add water and soy sauce until the taste is on the strong side. In a cup, put several tablespoons of flour & lots of pepper. Add water to fill cup. Stir until smooth. Add to boiling gravy mix. Stir, when boiling comes up again, turn off heat.

  9. I may have mentioned this before, but a few years ago I found the Happy Herbivore: Holidays and Gatherings cookbook by Lindsay S. Nixon. It’s got recipes for all kinds of holiday meals, and, even better, doesn’t use hard-to-find ingredients! 🙂
